When comparing Kritik to Eduflow, ask these questions to identify why Educators and Students choose Kritik
Does Eduflow accurately calibrate grades and ensure fair peer-to-peer grading?
A part of peer evaluation that creates a little bit of unease is assigning students the marks evaluated by other students. Instructors are unsure whether these grades were assessed critically and in good faith. Instructors should be able to identify those with strong evaluative skills and be sure that grades assigned are fair. A system to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a cohort is absent from Eduflow, potentially creating inequitable and inaccurate grade results.
Kritik can do it better
By using Kritik’s unique calibration feature, instructors are able to identify students who are strong evaluators and see where other students are falling short. Our algorithm uses this data to provide students with proportionate and accurate scores for their activities. Students who are engaged in the peer evaluation process by providing critical, accurate and authentic feedback will have a greater impact on their peer’s grades. Students who provide generic, inauthentic and inaccurate feedback have a smaller influence on their peer’s grades. This is how Kritik is able to ensure equity and accountability in the peer evaluation process.

Does Eduflow incentivize honest and constructive feedback?
Feedback on feedback is an integral part of a successful implementation of peer-to-peer pedagogy. While Eduflow has a feedback-on-feedback system, it is not designed to hold evaluators accountable in providing constructive and critical feedback on their peer’s work. Rather, their platform’s feedback-on-feedback questions are more self-reflective; asking students how they will use the feedback to improve their work. While self-reflection does have benefits, it does not create an adequate level of responsibility for students to critically evaluate their peers work.
Kritik can do it better
Kritik’s Feedback-on-Feedback (FoF) stage provides students with the structure and guidance on how to receive and provide peer evaluations which is an essential life lesson. It encourages students to investigate how critical and motivational the evaluations are while validating the correctness of their peers’ comments. Through Kritik’s peer grading process, students are empowered to constantly develop their ability to receive and provide feedback with approximately 63% of students saying that they became better evaluators after a few iterations. Kritik’s structured Feedback on Feedback model helps students become better evaluators and take responsibility for their part of the grading process.

Can Eduflow effectively engage students through gamification?
Additionally, Kritik leverages introspective gamification techniques to further incentivize active participation in the peer evaluation process. Students have the opportunity to track their improvements as the term progresses through our evaluation scoring system. Students are given profile emblems to show their evaluative skill level. This gamification encourages students to strive for strong participation in evaluative activities. This gamification process also feeds into Kritik’s AI feature, to increase students grading power as they become stronger evaluators, increasing the accuracy of grades. Eduflow does not include gamification strategies in its interface.

Does Eduflow’s interface limit grade disputes and support the grade dispute process?
No matter the assessment type, grade disputes are a rather common occurrence in the classroom. A common misconception about peer evaluation activities is that it creates an increase in grade disputes. This is false. Studies have shown that peer assessment largely reduces grade challenges. However, a methodized approach to grade disputes is necessary for a successful peer-to-peer pedagogy scheme. Eduflow does not have a grade dispute process, leaving students feeling dissatisfied with the lack of accountability and instructors with a more grim process of addressing grade challenges.
Kritik can do it better
Kritik’s grading scheme significantly reduces grade disputes. Kritik’s analysis of approximately 140,000 peer-evaluated student assignments show that only 1-4% of students dispute their grades. Should a grade dispute arise, Kritik has a formalized process in the interface for addressing peer evaluation disputes. All evaluations are anonymous, to eliminate any biases. Students are able to dispute a score and flag evaluations that may be inaccurate or inappropriate. The instructor will be notified to assess this dispute from the student. While Kritik equips its platform with these dispute functions, the large majority of the students are very satisfied with the grades that they receive from their peers. Students are learning at a deeper level from having an increased opportunity to apply multiple perspectives for dynamic problem-solving.
